This is a quick 3-pager by the super prolific and awesome Okeya. Definitely a favourite of mine and definitely someone who we'll return to in the future, likely more than a few times! The original title is "いいかげんにしてください" which is a fairly standard phrase that comes up a lot, meaning something like, "Treat me well" or "Please take care of me." But the title doesn't have much to do with the comic in any way that is easily transferable to an English audience, so instead we opted for a different, hopefully appropriate title.
On the topic of translations, the third page of this comic uses multiple ways of expressing a single sentiment - "I love you." Ritsu begins by using 愛, the kanji for "love." As she repeats this, the exact expression changes slightly, from "愛いしてるよ" to "愛いしてるず" till eventually her expression is entirely represented in hiragana as "あいしてる." It's a very neat - and very Japanese - way of expressing the same sentiment and essential meaning a bunch of slightly different ways. We considered opting for variations like "I adore you" or "I treasure you," or alternating between "I like you" and "I love you," or just experimenting with different fonts - but ultimately I didn't find any of these methods really do it justice. In this case, our release is a very straightforward interpretation - and hopefully not too much meaning was lost in the process.
Interestingly, another Pixiv user also put this into fanfiction form. Maybe we'll translate that someday, just for fun? Who knows. Thank you very much for reading, enjoy the comic as always!
